Why not? Just configure an SMB share with TrueNAS, and then under Windows save the scanned files to your network folder (share).

I think you misunderstood winnielinnie. He meant to just connect the scanner to your desktop pc/laptop, have truenas connected with an smb network share to that machine and if you scan a document just save it to that network share and not your local drive.

Some scanners that have a network port can be configured to directly scan to smb shares over your network.
But i don't think it's possible to connect the scanner directly to your truenasbox and make truenas see the scanner and configure it via the gui.

how do i set up the scanner connection?
Does that scanner have the capability to scan directly to a network share? If so, then do that. If you don't know how, that's a question for Epson support, not for this forum. If it doesn't have that capability (and nothing on Epson's product page for that device says it does), no, you won't be able to scan directly to the NAS without another computer being involved.
