I am trying out encryption with FreeNAS and I notice that if I restart the server, the volume will get locked and I need to unlock it.

My question is as I add more data to the NAS, will the time it takes to unlock the volume increase? It is relatively fast when it is empty, but how long would it be if I have like 5 TB of data?

Thanks

The data is encrypted and decrypted on the fly. So the time to unlock will be constant.

However, mounting pools that are full of data will take longer. How much longer? A few seconds, not enough for you to worry about. ;)
