I am a FreeNAS hobbyist and have version 9.10 running AOK on a wimpy old computer. I do backups and store what ever I want, so no worries.

Question: Can I upgrade the motherboard and video components without a reinstall?

You bet. I just did this a few days ago. No worries.
It's about time you got on proper hardware Ken.

Absolutely. Plug the old USB into the new motherboard, plug in the drives, and you should be good to go. If you'd manually configured a network interface, and the new mobo uses different network hardware, you may need to manually reconfigure the network interface, but everything else should be as you left it.

Thanks guys but I'm on a zero budget. People keep giving me better old PCs.

Use caution...
Google the newer hardware/mobo model# and FreeNAS to avoid any possible issues.
Newer is NOT always better...
