I have two FreeNAS servers, one of which is currently down with a mobo problem. Can I move the ZFS pool to the second server for a few weeks and move it back when the new mobo has been burned-in? I assume "yes", but thought I would ask about potential problems before proceeding. Thank for your help.

If so hardware is comparable it will be fine. You will have to reconfigure your settings or upload your config file to the new server.

Thank you SweetAndLo.

Hardware is not comparable (broken system is Asrock C2750D4I and functioning system is Lenovo TS140), but I would put the six drives that comprise the pool into an external SAS expander cage previously tested on the ts140 (which has an M1015 variant on P20).

Woops auto complete used the wrong word, I wanted to say if hardware is compatible it will be fine.

In that case, you can move the USB stick and data drives to the new machine and not bother with reconfiguring anything.

Thank you gentlemen.

Don't have sticks for Asrock system as I use two SataDOMs. Small hassle to move them due to power arrangement (will if must). But, the Ts140 is running on the latest 9.3.1 as was the Asrock. Could I just import the config from the Asrock to the TS140 and be off and running?

Is there any conceivable danger to the zpool?

Yep, as long as the versions are the same, the config will move over fine. As mentioned, you will need to likely reconfigure networking.

No danger.

Sorry for the delay in my report. I've been dealing with failing USB sticks, failing 9.3.1 updates, and a failing Plugin update.

Those issues are now resolved and my zPool is quite happy on the TS140 via external SAS expander. My jails popped-up nicely also. A pleasant surprise is that my WD Reds are running 3 to 4 degrees C cooler in a similar box but without the C2750D4I. I like the Node 304 aesthetics and size, but I can see now that the "cooling" consitsts, in part, of blowing the heat rising from the mobo across the drives.

Thanks again for your help depasseg and SweetAndLow.
