My fingers are just hesitating over the cart's "Order Now" button. This is the build, then my questions:

1) Intel Xeon E3-1230 V2;
2) Supermicro X9SCM-F;
3) Kingston KVR16E11K4/32I

Halt!
It says KVR16E11K4/32I with an "I" at the end.

Kingston Memory Search Tool says that compatibility with X9SCM-F is assured only for KVR16E11K4/32 (without "I").

Specs seem the same; "I" means Intel Validated (?).

Has anyone experience with the "I" version?

No experience with the "I" version, but wouldn't the Server Premier memory be better -- and probably not much price difference? That's what I ordered for my X10SL7-F.

I had the same issue. I was about to buy the Kingston "Elpida" verified ECC RAM. I said **** it, and ordered it. It was fine.

Just order it.

Thanks to all. The price isn't the same: I can order the 32GB KIT of Intel validated for about $ 90 less than the not validated :)

The one you chose:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820239371 $380.99 (but currently out of stock)

"Server Premium" (sold as individual modules, not as a kit):

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820239649 $100.99 for 8GB

So a mere $23 difference for 32GB of the Supermicro-recommended memory.

(Might have to wait a while for the items for my new build because of the East Coast weather: everything's still in New Jersey.)

I have had good success with Crucial memory, although I do not have that same board.

Was that Crucial RAM tested with your board?

It was not officially on the Supermicro compatibility list. On the website it only listed Hynix or Samsung. More then likely the chips used on the memory I have is either Samsung or Hynix.

I mean, was it on the compatibility list you can check on the Crucial website?

I'm considering Kingston KVR16E11K4/32I 32GB 1600MHz DDR3 ECC CL11 DIMM I (Kit of 4) or 4 x Kingston KVR1333D3E9S-8G 8GB 1333MHz DDR3 ECC Unbuffered CL9 DIMM = 32GB.
I also just noticed "I" in the KVR16E11K4/32I kit description. I know that both types of memory should be compatible with the motherboard that I intend to get - ASUS M5A99FX Pro R2.0.
KVR16E11K4/32I is 1600MHz CL11, 4 x KVR1333D3E9S-8G will be 1333MHz CL9

Does anyone have any suggestions which memory to choose?
Thank you.

For information. I'm using Kingston KVR16E11K4/32I with Supermicro MBD-X10SLH-F-O. It is working just great.

Thank you for the confirmation that KVR16E11K4/32I works fine with the Supermicro MBD-X10SLH-F-O motherboard. I understand that this is LGA 1150 Intel C226 and therefore "I" (Intel Compatibility Tested) at the end of the memory model makes sense. I was wondering whether such memory will also work with AMD AM3+ motherboards, e.g. ASUS M5A99FX Pro R2.0.
I've sent inquiry to Kingston technical support and will report back when I hear from them.
