HAs been submitted:

Win 8.1 64-bit connectivity is spotty with frequent drops of network shares on freenas while Win7 64-bit is fine.

Higher samba level in Win 8.1 causing console message correlating to dropouts:

"freenas mDNSResponder: Unknown DNS packet type FFFE from [win 8.1 client IP]:49438 to 255.255.255.255:5353 length 42 on 0000000000000000 (ignored)"

For now, I'm setting CIFs service (near bottom of that) to max Samba 2_1 which I hope is 2.1 introduced in Windows 7.
