Hello,

I have been using freeNAS for a few months now and quite like it. Recently i had a power surge and my main OS drive died as well as 1 of 3 drives in a RAIDZ1. I re-installed the OS and was able to use the gui section for auto volume import, when clicked i could see both my VM server image volume and Media volume, however only my VMimage volume was able to successfully import. The media volume is detected, i start the import, wait a while then it fails. I am not 100% familiar with the commands required to trouble shoot this issue but figured this is a good time to learn.

Any suggestions on what to look for to restore my media volume (raidz1 with 1 dead drive) ?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Just an update, When i use the zpool import -f /mnt Media command, i am able to successfully see my volume when i cd to /mnt/Media, all of the contents are there and i can view each file however this does now show up in the gui... and i am unable to access them via SMB off my laptop. Any suggestions ?

I don't have tons of content on the volume (raidz1) however now that i can see the files i am excited and dont want to give up haha.

Thanks !

But, if you make a new install, are you remake the SMB shares?, or import the old config?

Hey interpeix thank you for the reply. I tried reinstalling and importing. It worked however I ran into what seems to be a known issue where I had and old disk in the volume that could not be detached. I think the issue had to do with the way I replaced a drive. I was able to ftp any important files off and rebuild to volume. Tried playing with zpool commands and gui but could not get the old drive to detach no matter what. After rebuild of volume all is well.

Thanks again!
