Hello!

After reading many threads on this forum, I post my new freenas build before buying this.

Motherboard: Supermicro X9SRA ATX LGA2011 Motherboard
CPU Rad: Intel RTS2011LC Water Cooler - Already have
CPU: Intel Xeon E5-1620 v2 (3.7Ghz x4)
Memory: 4x Samsung DDR3 8GB 1600Mhz ECC - Already have
Storage: 16x Samsung 850 PRO 2TB - Already have
HBA Controller: LSI SAS 9201-16i
Chassis: Chenbro RM31616 (16x3.5" HotSwap) - Already have
Network Adapter: Intel X540-T2 (2x10Gbps/s) or Qlogic QLE2562 (2x8Gbps/s FC) - Already have both

I want to use this server with an vCenter, so I need to user iSCSI or FC…

Have you some advices or something to change in my hardware configuration?
Do you think it's a good idea to install FreeNAS into a usb stick, or I need to install it into physical hard drive?

There's no reason at all to install FreeNAS on a spinning-rust hard drive. USB sticks work fairly well, are widely available and cheap, but aren't the most reliable. A small SSD or SATA DOM would be more expensive, but likely considerably more reliable. Failure of a boot device isn't a major problem--install to a new one, upload your saved config file, and you're back in business.

Okay, thanks, so if I install an SSD for FreeNAS, it can be more reliable. For a hardware configuration like this, it's not a big problem to add an little extra disk for OS…

I rack it into 42U bay, with a 40 kVA inline UPS 3-phase, and my case already have a 3 redundant power supply (3x1500W Platinium) (One power supply by phase)
So, my UPS it's already okay.
