add disks and create a new pool online?

Hey!

hypothetical question:
i have a 6 drive SAS pool, server is running everything is fine.
is it possible to add SATA disks create a new VDev and a new pool, online?

important is that i can't switch off or restart the server.

Assuming everything plays nicely with hot-swap (any SAS component should, as should SATA drives), yes.

If you haven't tested hotplug on that hardware(not hotswap) then I wouldn't try it. You may crash the system or worse.

Hotswap and hotplug are not the same thing, don't confuse them. ;)
