When i create a volume (for iSCSI usage) within my initial volume i only get a destroy button an can not create a Snapshot in Volume Manager.

I have a volume

main /mnt/main

then I used Add ZFS Volume an created a new volume with 25GB an the name iscsi_vm01.
Now I have this entry in Volume Manager:

main /dev/zvol/main/iscsi_vm01

and can not create a Snapshot for this volume manually.

Funy thing is, I can create a periodic snapshot for this volume.

Should it be that way?

thx

I'll look at this before BETA3. Zvols are fundementally different from datasets and taking snapshots of them is different that taking a snapshot of a dataset, mainly because while ZFS will be consistant, the contents of the zvol may not be. Since there is currently no way for FreeNAS to quiesce the filesystems in the zvol. Still, it should be an option.
