4 x 16TB Mirror ---OR---- 8 x Raid Z2

Hello,

I'd like to know what would give better performance and integrity. I'm using 8 x 16 TB drives.

4 x VDEVs Mirrors

---or---

One large VDEV with all 8 drives in Z2

What would be the best option and why? Or alternate option?

How would you configured this group of disks to run general SMB file shares and a few virtual machines?

The first question should be about your workload. What IOPS and sequential speeds will you need? What are you planning to use the NAS for? What type of VM and sharing which type of files?
