Hello guys,

I've got a problem while setting up my freenas server..
I'm using a supermicro X7DWN+ motherboard,
16 gigs of ecc ram, 2 xeon cpu's,
and 6 * 2 TB hdd's.
but when go to my bios, I see this:

IDE channel 0 master none
IDE channel 0 slave none
SATA port 0 2000 GB
SATA port 1 2000 GB
SATA port 2 2000 GB
SATA port 3 2000 GB

this is with parallel ata enabled,
serial ata enabled,
sata controller mode option: enhanced
sata raid disabled
sata ahci disabled - when I enable this, all disks show "none" instead of 2000 GB

I have got no idea how to solve this, anyone an idea,

thanks!

sata ahci disabled
Enable AHCI, for starters.

As for why two drives are missing, the following options come to mind:
  • Bad disks
  • bad cables
  • bad SATA controller
So, try moving the drives around and replacing the cables, to track down the cause of the problem.

Hello,

sorry,
I forgot to mention that I already dit this, I switched sata and power cables around,
and also this, when I put the raid option on enabled,
when I boot, before the bios comes up, I can see a screen where the disks detected are showed, and there, I do see them all ...
but when I go further to bios, I see only 4 of them...

also, when I enable ahci, I don't see them at all...
also, I tried all disks on a windows machine, they all work...

If FreeNAS detects the drives and they work fine, ignore the stupid BIOS.
