Re-balance striped vdevs?

I have a zpool with a single 15x wide RAIDz2 vdev. I filled the pool with data and it is now almost full. I am thinking about adding a second 15x wide RAIDz2 vdev to double the capacity of the zpool. However, I am unclear how new data written to the zpool will be handled. Will it be evenly striped? Or will the new vdev be filled first?

Is there any way to "re-balance" the data?

More-or-less yes.

Put the data somewhere else (and empty the pool), then put the data back. It will be evenly written back when both vdevs are empty.

Send recieve can be used to rebalance ;)
