I can see all files with no problems, can I not save the config file or is the config file pouched as well? From the dmesg output, da0 is hosed. That appears to be a Kingston Traveller usb device. If I had to guess I'd say that it was on it's way to dying and that an install was enough to push it over the edge.
You probably need to install on a new usb device but I don't know how to migrate your configuration (or if you can even read it). This is where a mirrored boot pool would have helped.
Your disk data is likely safe though. (As safe as non mirrored disks can be.)

Is this any better??The boot pool being degraded indicates a hardware issue. please, if you built this system, you know what is in it.
People who are viewing the forum from a mobile device are not able to see the contents of the signature.
You have some information in your signature now. That is nice, but keep in mind that people who are viewing the forum on ANY mobile platform (tablet or phone) will not see the signature at all. So, if you are asking for help and, if someone is asking for hardware details, please be kind and provide them in the body of a post.Is this any better??

The config db file is namedImpossible for me to say. Lots of threads about replacing failed boot drives and sounds like config db is often backed up so maybe your odds are good.
freenas-v1.db
and is located at: /data
/var/db/system/
plus another directory that will be named configs-****random_characters****
.cd FreeNAS-11.1-U7\ \(b45bfcf29\)/
I was looking at the drive configuration and I am wondering if you realize that you have no redundancy in this configuration. Normally, it would be better to have the drives mirror each other so there is redundancy of in the ZFS storage to allow for error correction if anything goes wrong with one of the drives.here are both drives
