Do not attempt to install Enterprise High Availability systems with TrueNAS SCALE until it becomes generally available, unless the deployment is experimental in nature. Installing TrueNAS SCALE on High Availability (HA) systems is complicated and should be guided by Enterprise-level support. Enterprise HA Migrations

TrueNAS Enterprise customers should consult with iXsystems Support before attempting migrate to TrueNAS SCALE. The process requires: Backing up critical data. An extended maintenance window. Executing the migration process in a precise order. Additional system configuration to update network interfaces and add new administrator accounts. Failover Screen

TrueNAS Enterprise This article only applies to SCALE Enterprise (HA) systems. The System Settings > Failover screen displays settings used on SCALE Enterprise (HA) systems to turn the failover function on or off, sync the primary and standby controllers, and allow administrator users to configure failover. The main menu option and screen only display on Enterprise (HA) systems with the correct license applied. Setting Description Disable Failover Select to turn failover off.

Failover

The SCALE CLI guide is a work in progress! New namespace and command documentation is continually added and maintained, so check back here often to see what is new! Failover Namespace TrueNAS Enterprise On licensed systems, use the Failover namespace to manage HA system controllers and failover operations for Enterprise customer. Systems without an Enterprise license do not use this namespace. The failover namespace has 14 commands and is based on failover functions found in the SCALE API and web UI.

Shutting Down SCALE Enterprise HA

TrueNAS Enterprise This procedure applies to SCALE Enterprise High Availability (HA) systems only. If you need to power down your SCALE Enterprise system with HA enabled, this is the procedure: Shut Down From the SCALE Web UI While logged into the SCALE Web UI using the virtual IP (VIP), click the power button in the top right corner of the screen. Select Shut Down from the dropdown list. This shuts down the active controller.

Configure High Availability (HA) Power on both system controllers and log in to the web interface for one of them. For first-time logins, TrueNAS prompts you to upload the TrueNAS Enterprise License.

Failover Configuration Name Description Disable Failover Disable automatic failover. Default TrueNAS Controller Make the currently active TrueNAS controller the default when both TrueNAS controllers are online and HA is enabled. To change the default TrueNAS controller, unset this option on the default TrueNAS controller and allow the system to fail over.
