Hello all :) im new on this forum and i have a one little probably easy question.

FreeNAS Version : TrueNAS-13.0-U2.
Processor: Intel Xeon 2650 v4.
RAM: 64GB ECC DDR4 ( 2 x 32GB ).
256 M.2 Boot Drive ( Probably to big )
3 TB ST3000VN007 x 2
3 TB WDC WD30EFZX x 1
256 GB KINGSTON SHSS37A240G x 1 ( ZFS Cache )

Capacity: 9TB + 256GB Cache / ( 4.32TB + 256GB Cache )

2022-12-10 18_05_56-TrueNAS - truenas.guivenvar.es - Brave.png

I want to buy another 3TB hard drive with another 12TB, would this option be possible? I mean, is it possible to use 12TB (3x4) and then 1 x 12 within the same ZFS? And that it continues to function as a copy or sum of them? Or do I have to stick with 3TB capacity drives.

Thanks :)

The larger drive will only use as much as is applicable from the smallest drive capacity in the vDev. In other words, your 12 TB drive will be wasting an unused/unavailable 9 TB.

Is your current setup now RAID-Z1? Or is is a mirror of three drives?

EDIT: Nevermind, based on the "total capacity" shown, I'm assuming it's RAID-Z1.

Yes, the pool is attached with RAID-Z1
Please do read the following resources.

Thanks, I didn't know how to find this resource that explains my problem... But it is explained in White_Paper_February. I have used search to find the same problem as me but couldn't find anything.
Thanks and sorry for bothering :)
