zfs mirror on esxi

Hello All,

I recently joined in hope that someone can help me with my situation. It relates my home freenas server on esxi.

My Freenas vm would not boot all the way because of space running out of freenas mirror drives(1 and 2) due to a thin provision FreeNas file called FreeNas000003.vmdk.

So I deleted it and then freenas didn’t boot. For the some reason, the mirror drives were resized to 8GB in esxi settings. However, after adding back the mirror drives, freenas does not see the disks as part of the mirror.

I found out I need two important files to “recreate” the drives; the descriptor file freenas.vmdk and freenas-flat.vmdk. I have both of those and some file called freenas000003separse.vmdk, which is the same size of the file I deleted, as I mentioned above. I think I deleted a snapshot file, which is fine since the snapshot was not important.

so I attach both drives to Linux vm and try import the disks via zfsutils-Linux, zfs import -f. The import didn’t work and says the pool is degraded. However, it says both drives and pool are online. I didn’t some research and some other people with used scrub to help repair the drives.

Any suggestions? Let me know if you need more information.
