Yo!
After following a couple of youtube channels and viewing a couple of installation/how-to's, I felt confident enough that I could build my own.
I saved up some money and purchased the following:
Some ASUS mobo, forgot the model
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz (8 cores)
2x8gb for 16gb of DDR3
4x4tb in raidz1
1x128gb for L2ARC
16gb usb drive, boot drive running FreeNAS-11.2-BETA3
Mainly, a set it and forget type of thing. It stores my stuff, streams my media on Plex.
Afterwards, I picked up a LPIC-1 cert guide book to expand my linux knowledge, so far it's going pretty good.
Read some documentation on zfs and started to look back at my setup.....not sure if it's working optimally after reading the documentation, so I may end up re-configuring my pool after I back up some important files.
