The Intel 82599 series of 10GbE network controllers, as used on the Intel X520, is very well-supported and in very wide use. That, however, does not mean that the card you propose will work. 10Gtek is not exactly a top-tier OEM, though they do show up a lot.
There's also the detail of possible SFP module lock-in, which OEMs can disable in firmware and users can disable in the driver, with mixed results.

I am running in to the same issue and it's because the SPF module is unsupported. If I set grub boot flag ixgbe.allow_unsupported_sfp=1 it works and I have no issue. Does anyone have any idea how to set this in grub because any time I mess with truenas it loses that grub boot setting. Any idea on how to fix this permanently would be great.
