With 9.3 Can you install plug-ins on the boot device?

With the changes to the boot device on 9.3, and now the recommendation to use something like SATA DOM or a SSD, could you install your Jails/Plug-ins like Plex to the boot device?

If it is possible, would there be any downsides?

Looks like its possible, but maybe not recommended. But has to be said, I think it makes more sense to bundle your Plugins than the L2ARC as in this example.

The boot device is meant to be the boot device. You can do all sorts of things to the boot device, but you shouldn't be the least bit surprised if later things go badly and you can't boot, can't update, or whatever as a result.

tl;dr- use the OS as designed, you'll be happier you did.
