I get this trying to start smartd manually (service smartd start).

The only thing I can think of is that I have recently installed a IBM M1015, but I have not flashed it yet. The disks are in JBOD at the moment. Would that affect things?

TIA,

What do you mean by starting it manually? You should be using the Services tab and start the SMART service.

I accidentally clicked it off in the web ui, and when I went to restart it wouldn't start up. So I went to the cli and tried:
  • service smartd start
  • /usr/local/etc/rc.d/smartd start
This is a fresh install, so I am not sure if turning it off screwed it up or if it was maybe never running to begin with, but the UI for some reason marked it as "on".

Thanks,
