What are your ARC statistics?

The problem isn't that they are the same (it's just weird) but that the whole ARC is only 2 GB when it should be 18 GB from the MRU and MFU sizes.

My script doesn't calculate anything, it aggregates the infos, mainly from the arc_summary.py built-in script. So, if there is a calculus bug it's in this script and as I didn't write it I don't know if it's normal, and how to fix it if it's not (and I don't want to spend time on this, I've already a ton of things more important to do) :)

Yes, it would be perfect to have another thread like "ARC statistics question/problems" ;)

My god, what is happening with the ARC sizes? something has been changed in the arc_summary.py file in one of the last updates or what?

In theory it ought to work but in practice it'll be spectacularly slow. Even with 1TB'ers.
They are 4TB, and they are slow. Faster than I would have guessed though. I have plenty of test results looking to isolate any speed issues outside of Ram, debating starting a thread to ask for more better experienced folks to look them over.

A first post with examples of what the script would show for a well running home or business server would be helpful for many folks I think.

I might be willing to take the time to split this thread up into a results thread and a discussion thread. Anyone think that sounds like a good ides?
Yes.

You can read the other posts of this thread, the big majority is from well runing servers ;)

@all: As this thread is meant to post the stats and not to ask about performance/problems regarding the ARC, and as many members do it anyway, I created this thread to ask all the questions you want, please use it, thanks ;)

@WordlyBedouin Can you re-ask on the other thread please?

This is a special mobile storage unit that I've been building and shipping across the world for my company. It's empty right now.
[*]11.1MiB / 180TiB (Tank)
[*]9.54GiB / 14.4GiB (freenas-boot)
[*]7.84GiB (MRU: 27.90GiB, MFU: 27.90GiB) / 64.00GiB
[*]Hit ratio -> 98.65% (higher is better)
[*]Prefetch -> 6.67% (higher is better)
[*]Hit MFU:MRU -> 96.48%:3.40% (higher ratio is better)
[*]Hit MRU Ghost -> 0.00% (lower is better)
[*]Hit MFU Ghost -> 0.00% (lower is better)

This is our TrueNAS that is used for archival needs. Write once, read maybe. It's too full at the moment, and no more data is going in.
[*]351TiB / 399TiB (Tank)
[*]126.06GiB (MRU: 119.15GiB, MFU: 12.82GiB) / 192.00GiB
[*]Hit ratio -> 62.24% (higher is better)
[*]Prefetch -> 12.50% (higher is better)
[*]Hit MFU:MRU -> 25.28%:67.22% (higher ratio is better)
[*]Hit MRU Ghost -> 0.01% (lower is better)
[*]Hit MFU Ghost -> 1.34% (lower is better)

This is a FreeNAS box that I built when I realized I could save $60k if I didn't pay for TrueNAS. More archive storage.
[*]240TiB / 363TiB (Tank)
[*]1.02GiB / 59.5GiB (freenas-boot)
[*]47.07GiB (MRU: 43.39GiB, MFU: 3.83GiB) / 64.00GiB
[*]Hit ratio -> 54.54% (higher is better)
[*]Prefetch -> 7.39% (higher is better)
[*]Hit MFU:MRU -> 10.41%:83.45% (higher ratio is better)
[*]Hit MRU Ghost -> 0.00% (lower is better)
[*]Hit MFU Ghost -> 1.67% (lower is better)

This is the same as the one above, except I have a different mixture of drive capacities.
[*]164TiB / 399TiB (Tank)
[*]2.84GiB / 59.5GiB (freenas-boot)
[*]45.16GiB (MRU: 42.05GiB, MFU: 3.12GiB) / 64.00GiB
[*]Hit ratio -> 86.46% (higher is better)
[*]Prefetch -> 8.41% (higher is better)
[*]Hit MFU:MRU -> 90.51%:8.66% (higher ratio is better)
[*]Hit MRU Ghost -> 0.00% (lower is better)
[*]Hit MFU Ghost -> 0.03% (lower is better)

Here are mine. I'm not sure why my "Storage" pool shows 18.1TiB. I have 5 x 4TB drives in RAIDZ2... Should be 12ishTB. right?

  • Media, Backups, Documents, Archival
  • 12.3GiB / 27.8GiB (Jails)
  • 10.5TiB / 18.1TiB (Storage)
  • 2.51GiB / 7.44GiB (freenas-boot)
  • 22.29GiB (MRU: 17.03GiB, MFU: 5.29GiB) / 32.00GiB
  • Hit ratio -> 96.58% (higher is better)
  • Prefetch -> 37.23% (higher is better)
  • Hit MFU:MRU -> 97.04%:2.56% (higher ratio is better)
  • Hit MRU Ghost -> 0.01% (lower is better)
  • Hit MFU Ghost -> 0.01% (lower is better)

It's because it's the total RAID space, including the parity ;)

Bidule0hm, just a suggestion, but you should prob include a header or maybe even a note in the OP for people to include their system specs if it isnt already in their sig.

The stats are kinda meaningless unless you know whats under the hood if ya ask me.
