Building a new NAS box w/ FreeNAS-8.3.1-RELEASE-p2-x64 (r12686+b770da6_dirty), creating a new volume inside the WebUI and watching the log file, when I see this...

Note: I didn't select encryption when creating the volume.... ;)
So what's up with this? I checked to see what geli thought in the command line:
# geli status da8p1.eli
Name Status Components
da8p1.eli ACTIVE da8p1
# geli list da8p1.eli
Geom name: da8p1.eli
State: ACTIVE
EncryptionAlgorithm: AES-XTS
KeyLength: 256
Crypto: software
Flags: ONETIME, W-DETACH, W-OPEN
Providers:
1. Name: da8p1.eli
Mediasize: 2147483648 (2.0G)
Sectorsize: 4096
Mode: r1w1e0
Consumers:
1. Name: da8p1
Mediasize: 2147483648 (2.0G)
Sectorsize: 512
Stripesize: 4096
Stripeoffset: 0
Mode: r1w1e1
So I destroyed the volume, and tried to create it again... making sure I didn't click the encryption checkbox this time (just to be sure), and the same thing happens.
Is this a bug? Or something that's expected? Because it seems awfully odd that GELI is telling me there's encryption on these slices when I don't want it.

I'm being dumb, I think... I just noticed the p1 vs p2... and read something about cache devices? So the cache device is encrypted?

Hi kuruption,

The encrypted items are actually the swap partitions that FreeNAS creates on each data drive. It's normal, nothing to worry about.
