For a few weeks I've had an error saying the volume is degraded. I've done smart tests cleared checksum errors, and scubs with no luck on how to fix the issue. Please help.

When you performed the smart tests, did it pass long and short?

What is your hardware and software version (required for all posts as per the forum rules)?

zpool status shows the drive is failing but your alerts in the GUI show that diffident identifiers are shown at different points in time. Between warnings, did you move the disks around, reboot the machine, or change cables of any sort?

Please post the full output (in code tags) of "smartctl -a /dev/adap2" of the offending device (if you didn't reboot or change anything since you posted the screenshots, then it would be "adap2" as I indicated above.

Yes, both tests passed. Signature updated with specs.
I have not moved any disks around, or change cables. I have rebooted. When I put the smartctl you provided, it says it can't recognize the device type. When I swap out ada5p2 with ada5 I get the attached results.

Well, this drive went over 13,000 hours without a single SMART test. That isn't good--you should have regularly scheduled SMART tests running on all your drives. And though it passed a short test, that doesn't do much. Try running a long test ( smartctl -t long /dev/ada5), and then posting the output again.

I thoroughly cleaned server, reset all sata and power cables, and reset usb drive. No longer getting volume error. Now I'm getting different errors related to SMART tests. Any idea?

Hmmm. Nothing looks especially problematic there, other than the load cycle counts on ada4 and ada5 are awfully high. I'd probably just clear the errors and see if they come back.

Are ada2, 4 and 5 on the Intel SATA ports or the Marvell? There's some history of issues with the Marvell ports.
