I noticed this line at boot:
/etc/rc: WARNING: failed precmd routine for vmware_guestd

Is that supposed to be there? This is a fresh build and first boot (offline, hence the host name not found messages).

That message is because you aren't running in a VM. The vmware tools loads automatically on bootup with FreeNAS, but it fails to load (giving you that output) if you aren't in a VMWare VM.

Will the vmware tools be removed post-beta? or can they be counted on staying?

They're supposed to be there so they are staying. They aren't a full set of vmware tools though. For example, the vxnet NIC drivers aren't included.

You know what kills me it the fact that we are not to use FreeNAS in a VM environment yet it's built in and has been built in since day one. Gotta love it. But I do like to test the Beta's on VMWare.
