SOLVED User cannot login to Web UI

Hi all,

Is there any way to create additional admin user capable of login to TrueNAS? I managed to create a user that has ssh access and sudo privilege to managed the box but the same user cannot login to the web UI. Is that the intended behaviour?

Yes, only root user can log in to the GUI.

For that you can use the RBAC features of TrueCommand, but for login to the GUI directly, you're out of options, it's not possible.

There are now docs which indicate that:

As part of security hardening and to comply with Federal Information Processing standards (FIPS), iXsystems plans to completely disable root login in a future release. When this occurs, the sign-in screen prompts first-time users to create a new administration account they used in place of the root user. System administrators should create and begin using a new root-level user before this function goes away.

So is the way to make a root-level user to simply add them to the Primary Group `root`? Or add them as UID = 0 ?

Any suggestions on this very welcome.
