The number of processors and models is overwhelming. Things were a lot simpler in the 1990's :)
Is it possible to get the following used for around $500 or less?
0) 50W or less idling (not including spinning HDD's)
1) Xeon processor which is compatible with esxi and proxmox.
2) 32GB to 64GB ECC RAM
3) 1 x 10gb/s ethernet NIC (SFP)
4) 2 x 1gb/s ethernet NIC
5) 4 x removable 3.5" HDD bays with pass through HBA controller
I ran across the Dell Precision 7820 which is pretty nice, but I hear it idles around 130W. (Better than the Dell PowerEdge R720XD I was considering.)
I guess the system doesn't have to be xeon but it needs to have ECC ram, be compatible with proxmox (and preferably esxi as well).
I'll keep looking, but figured I'd ask. Catching up on 15 years of tech the past several days.
