One of the 2 USB sticks containing my FreeNAS 9 OS died (Sandisk cruzer lasted 1 year) and I have not been able to successfully resilver another stick.

Since I was meaning to upgrade anyway, can I use my saved v9 config on a fresh install of v11?

How dangerous would it be to dump the 2 USB sticks and put the v11 install on a (single) M.2 SSD?

Thanks.

Do a fresh install of your current 9 version, restore the config, then upgrade. That way the config database will also get upgraded.

@dlavigne Thanks!

Forgive me for the dumb question, but where can I find an .iso for version 9?

I deleted the v9 .iso to save space and could only find v11 on the downloads page.

Many thanks.

ETA: I could not remember the exact version, but fortunately this was embedded in the config.db filename.
This worked beautifully and I'm now running v11 on a 128 GB Intel M.2 SSD instead of 2 cheap USB sticks.
I have to reconfigure my email (gmail) password for notifications, but other than that, all is well.

Now I need to decide if I want to upgrade my ZFS pool...
