Use UTF-8 characters in dataset name?

I want to create a share and dataset with a UTF-8 ( letter ä ) character in it, but it isn't allowed either from the GUI or from the shell. Is there a way around this?

Best use 'ae' in you dataset's name. Even if there were a workaround now, there would be no guarantee the UTF-8 character would not cause headaches later.

I resorted to use a symlink. Seems to work well for now. :)
