Hi (previously posted in the wrong forum category)

I'd like to propose an update for the APC ups daemon one can choose in the UPS service

The current usbhidd for apc smart ups:s expose a fairly limited set of variables (due to old apc usb driver didn't support the so called MODBUS "system" - which is/was supported when connected with RS232) for monitoring via USB cable.

Nowadays a USB cable to the UPS is probably more common than serial/RS232..

The APCUPSD project, located here: http://www.apcupsd.com
apparantly implemented a new APC daemon which expose the modbus system via USB. My request would be a port that daemon to freenas system for since I, and probably other people, want to monitor battery temp, expected runtime etc

I guess this could be exposed as a 3rd apc smart ups settings for the NUT tools?

Created Feature request/issue 9230

Update: apparently based on this being only for APC ups:s (which are quite common) the FR is set to future and not planned. (Don't know on what basis the other 52 daemons in /usr/local/libexec/nut was selected - but future is better than denied I guess :))
