Forgive me is this is a crazy question. On my current system, I use a mirrored pair of USB boot drives. For the new system I'm planning, I'll move to an SSD boot drive, as widely recommended here for a long time.
However, my (planned) motherboard has only a single M.2 (not NVMe) slot. I have to imagine that mirroring an M.2 SSD with a USB drive would be a bad idea. But is there some other way I can use a USB drive as a backup boot device, in case the M.2 drive fails?
