Hi all,
I have a question.
Running TrueNAS, version TrueNAS-12.0-U4 . Urbackup server is installed in iocage jail (/mnt/vol1/iocage/jails/uRBACKUP/). The storage is mounted in the urbackup in /mnt/uRBACKUP.
All seems to be working, but I see the actual backup data twice. One copy in the jail (/mnt/vol1/iocage/jails/uRBACKUP/root/mnt/uRBACKUP/) and one copy in the SMB share Truenas is exporting to the clients (/mnt/vol1/set1/backup/uRBACKUP/)
Please is this OK ? Are the data really twice on the disk ?

Thanks in advance,
regards,
Podo

Maybe it is just because you created a mount point between those 2 locations.

You stated that you have a dataset which is both:

Mounted in the urbackup jail as the place where backups are stored, and
Made available as an SMB share from TrueNAS.

Therefore, there is one copy of the data, but it is available in two ways.

In my installation of urbackup, I have a dataset for the jail which is mounted in the jail but I don't make that dataset available to the network via a share from TrueNAS, I use the web interface to allow clients access to their backups for restoring files or directories. Although you can make the urbackup dataset available as a network share, you need to be careful with the permissions that clients have with regard to that share as if you make the permissions too broad, a user could damage the backups.
