i'm new here and after endless quest of 5 days I'm here asking.
Is there anyone who can help me.
This week i assembled me NAS from some old parts.
Everything works fine but now the following.

Code:
Build: FreeNAS-9.2.1.7-RELEASE-x64 (fdbe9a0)
Platform: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+
Memory: 7018MB

In my search to find some parts i also found my old Eminent EM3980 UPS (Serial - no USB).
Freenas doesn't support my UPS, tried all available RUPS drivers.
One driver doesn't work, at least it show me some info when i use "upsc ups@localhost"
Driver is selected is "Various ups 1 (various) Generic TRACK model (genericups upstype = 4)"
There is one other driver which does work, but right away after selecting it my system sent me a email of low batt and shuts down while the UPS is powered.
Driver selected then is: "Fideltronik ups 1 Other Ares models (genericups upstype=19)"
In my opinion the information i get by "upsc ups@localhost" is missing some lines, right.

Code:
device.mfr: Generic
device.model: Generic RUPS model
device.type: ups
driver.name: genericups
driver.parameter.pollinterval: 2
driver.parameter.port: /dev/cuau0
driver.parameter.upstype: 4
driver.version: 2.7.1
driver.version.internal: 1.36
ups.mfr: Generic
ups.model: Generic RUPS model
ups.status: OL

So i now use the "Various ups 1 (various) Generic TRACK model (genericups upstype = 4)" driver as the other mentioned driver shuts down the while the UPS is powered.
If I pull out now the NAS won't shut down but powersoff without shutting down.
This shouldn't happen, the UPS should beep and the NAS should shut down within 30sec as set in the UPS service menu.
I'm a total noob in Unix/Linux and there for i ask for some help.
I have a zip with linux drivers download from the Emininent website
Now my question is how do I install it and whether it makes sense to install it so i could get this UPS support.

UPS settings for my EM3980 (Eminent):
Code:
UPS Mode: Master
Identifier: ups
Driver: Various ups 1 (various) Generic RUPS model (genericups upstype=4)
Port: /dev/cuau0
Description: ups
Shutdown mode: UPS goes on battery
Shutdown timer: 30
Monitor User: upsmon
Monitor Password: fixmepass

Thx in advanced

FreeBSD isn't linux. Those linux drivers are totally and utterly useless.

If NUT doesn't support your UPS then my only recommendation is to get a UPS that is supported. :(

Thx for the answer.
I know getting a new UPS which is supported is the easiest way.
Unfortunately it aint as i don't have the funds for it.
Thats why i was asking if it was possible to install those drivers.

Just to let you know.
Seems the battery was dead after all.
Ordered a new one and set Freenas UPS driver config to "Various ups 1 (various) Generic RUPS model (genericups upstype=4)"
Pulled the cable out and the NAS is sending me a warning email and shutsdown after the given time i set in the UPS config.
So it does work now, although the battery didn't to be appearing dead it was dead after all.
