Hello..

I have a pretty standard freenas install, currently on 11.2-U3, and I want to upgrade it to 12.0, how do I do this? And is it better to go to 13.5 (been reading about possible SMB issues in 12.0)?

My setup is as follows:

Hardware:
Chassis: SuperStorage 5028R-E1CR12L
Motherboard: X10SRH-CLN4F
CPU: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2603 v4 @ 1.70GHz (6 cores)

I only use NFS, SMB and AFP atm, no jails, no VMs..

SMB and AFP are pretty critical but most of our stuff is connected to shares over NFS..

My advice, if you do not feel like troubleshooting possible problems and your system is running stable right now, wait until you start seeing good stable results from folks on the forum, you will always have someone with a problem but I think the next update will address a lot of issues presently seen.

If you feel like testing it out, I'd try a new boot drive and install TrueNAS 12.0-U2 and give it a test drive. WARNING - DO NOT UPGRADE YOUR POOL ! You do not need to upgrade your pool and if you do, you will not be able to roll back. If the test drive works out then you could upgrade your real boot drive.
