Hi,
Have an old system that has worked so I haven't messed with it. Finally want to tackle updating it and reading through advice on upgrade pathways. Since this is so old and the only things I have setup are SMB shares and AFP (Time Machine) backups, would the best option to backup my GELI encrypted pools and try importing into a fresh true nas scale on a separate usb stick (my freenas runs on a 8gb stick currently). So if I understand if things don't work, I can always just go back to the old old stick as long as I don't update feature flags? Or should I try this 9.10 - > 11.3-U5 -> TrueNAS CORE - > TrueNAS SCALE?
Where is the best place to do the GELI encryption to openZFS encryption? at the TrueNAS CORE stage? Following this concept?

TrueNAS Core and legacy GELI encryption
Hi all, I just read that "TrueNAS replaced GELI encryption with ZFS native cryptography in the version 12.0 release". Can anyone explain to me what that means for a GELI encrypted system when updating to TrueNAS 12 (Core)? Many thanks in advance
