upgrade FreeNas to TrueNas Enterprise

Just to be sure. Is it possible to upgrade my FreeNas to TrueNas Enterprise or can it only be upgraded to TrueNas Core?

Enterprise features are only enabled when you are running on TrueNAS Enterprise hardware sold by iXsystems. I'm not certain but it may also involve a licensing lock. Either way, please do not expect your own homegrown hardware to be capable of running (or being upgraded to) TrueNAS Enterprise. iXsystems makes their money and pays developer salaries by selling hardware. Features like high availability also make certain assumptions about the hardware platform's design. Enterprise is not really designed to run on random hardware platforms.

If it's not hardware purchased from iXSystems, yes, only TrueNAS CORE or SCALE are possible.
