Not sure how how and why but after upgrading to TrueNAS 13 somehow my ssh authentication from my replication tasks to that server do not work anymore. Is that considered a bug?
Since I used a wizard on the main system to set it all up, I'm not entirely sure where the key is supposed to reside on the target system. I'm thinking either "ssh conenctions" or "ssh keypairs", ssh connections seems more likely to me. But in either case nothing is there.

It's in the release notes. Some public key algorithms have been deprecated in the newer OpenSSH version shipped with 13.0.

By default, TrueNAS 12 cannot initiate a replication to or from TrueNAS 13 due to an outdated SSH client library. Allowing replication to or from TrueNAS 13 to TrueNAS 12 requires allowing ssh.rsa algorithms. See OpenSSH 8.2 Release for security considerations. Log into the TrueNAS 13 system and go to Services->SSH. Add the SSH Auxiliary Parameter: PubkeyAcceptedAlgorithms +ssh-rsa.

That was indeed the problem, weird wouldn't expect rsa to be outdated.
