My current home system runs 9.2.1.7 with UFS as my mobo doesn't support ECC RAM so ZFS is a no go with this system.
Is is worth the risk/effort updating to 9.2.1.9 (the latest/last version to support UFS)
I currently run 8 1TB HDD's as 4 'mirrors' (M0, M1, M2 & M3) of 1TB for each mirror

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated

I'd still take ZFS with no ECC over UFS any day...

Thanks for that suggestion Ericloewe.

I just taken the plunge & built a freenas 11 PC for starters using 8GB RAM (16GB max mobo) & a 4 core CPU using 2No. 1TB HDD's in a mirror.
I'll keep the Freenas 9.2.1.7 UFS PC running for now until I become more familiar with the ZFS version.

There seems to have been a lot of discussion of whether or not to use ECC RAM but from what I can gather, non ECC RAM is OK but ECC RAM is better
