Mirfster, I'm passing the support baton over to you. I have chores (away from the computer) to do.

I Just did, not such luck
So the keyboard does not work?

Guess you can either:
  1. Go to the actual system and use the Console (Menu Item #9) there; then type in that command
  2. Use another computer where the Keyboard actually does work in the Web GUI and type the command in the Shell there
  3. Try another keyboard on your computer

Either way, if you cannot get us pertinent information we are going to be limited in what assistance we can provide.

You are going to have to meet us half way at least here. Not trying to be rude, but simple troubleshooting on your part is going to be needed somewhat.

I'll do what I can... Nursing a hangover and some "honey do" stuff, but will check in from time to time. :)

Can't see all of the output; part of the screen is cropped. But I do see WOL_UCAST, WOL_MCAST, and WOL_MAGIC, which is encouraging.

Yes, that's better. The results show that your NIC supports WOL; that's what the WOL_UCAST, WOL_MCAST, and WOL_MAGIC flags indicate.

Now you need to make sure your FreeNAS system supports WOL; you may have to modify the BIOS settings so that the system will 'wake up'; some machines can be booted from a cold state, others must be in a higher-level sleep mode. This is very machine dependent, so you will need to study your motherboard to determine what needs to be done. You haven't told us what motherboard you're using - or (ahem...) anything else about your FreeNAS system - so we can't help you much with this.

Here are some related tools I've used that you might find useful:

https://www.depicus.com/wake-on-lan/wake-on-lan-monitor
https://www.depicus.com/wake-on-lan/wake-on-lan-gui

Good luck!

Suggestion: consider setting up your FreeNAS system to boot DOS from a USB stick while you figure out how to make WOL work. This will boot a lot faster than FreeNAS and save you some time. Once you can get the machine to boot with WOL, you can change the boot order to start up FreeNAS in the normal way and make sure that piece of the puzzle works as desired.

Perhaps its complaining about the magic packet value you've specified?
