Hi all
This may have been answered before if so can you please point me in the right direction. (yes I know use the search I have)
Ok I am running Freenas 9.10 stable.
I have originally installed PlexMediaServer from the plugin page and been using it for about a year now.
I have just paid for a life time Plex Pass and now would like to upgrade my PlexMediaServer to Plex Pass.
How do I go about this without losing any of my data.
At the moment I have Plex Data on a SSD and all the media on raid HDD.
Is it safe to just uninstall (delete) the PlexMediaServer from the plugin page?
Do I need to back up anything before deleting?
Then I would like to install the Plex pass from the shell GUI.
Is there a step be step procedure so I cant stuff this up.
By doing the above will I lose any of my settings and poster titles?

Thanks in advance

Plex server should be linked to your account. If that account has Plex pass, then you should automatically gain Plex pass functionality...if I'm not mistaken.

The Plex pass binary just gives you early access to some features. All the other features should just work with your account now. If you want to install the Plex pass binary you will probably need to build a new jail, install the Plex pass version using PKG and then copy your Plex data folder to the new server.

Thanks for the quick reply's.
So once I have installed the Plex pass binary and copied over the Plex data folder is it safe to delete the PMS plug in.
Also I would like to backup the Plex data folder just in case.
Can you please tell me how to do this or point me in the right direction.

Regards

Hi Guys

I have done a backup of my Plex /var/db/plexdata.
Deleted the old version of Plex plugin and installed the Plexpass version via the Freenas shell.
I then restored the /var/db/plexdata back to the new Plexpass.
Unfortunately it didn't work I is now updating the library and I had to go through all of the setting.
What a pain in the butt.
Is the Plexpass data base in a different folder to the plugin?

Yeah it's in a different directory...Just look at the directory and file structure of your install. It's probably in /usr/local/plexpass or something.

/var/db is only used by the plugin

Hi Guys

Thanks for your reply's
Unfortunately I had already tried to restore the dataset back into the plex pass acount where it restored it into the wrong folder.
So I started again and then tried to restore it to /usr/local/plexdata-plexpass where it did add it to that folder but it was in its own folder plexdata/plex media server not as below.
In the new plexpass the folder is located in /usr/local/plexdata-plexpass/plex media server.
I have been trying to work this out myself over the last couple of day just getting more and more frustrated.
For the life of me I can't work out how to move, copy or delete these files.
I had also tried to setup file share through window which I managed but only to be able to edit or delete in the first folder. so close.
Sorry to be a pain but can some please shed some light on the matter.

Thanks again

I have no idea what you are talking about.

Is there some reason you can't find the correct path, via the command line?

move = mv, copy=cp and delete=rm use these to get the Plex data into the right spot.

Thanks for the update.
In the end it would not mv, cp or even rm without using the -R command as I kept getting an error stating that the files I am trying to move copy or delete are directory's.

Hi Guys
Please read above first.
I ended up coping over the PMS plexdata directory which contained the Plex Media Server files to the new Plexpass system.
I copied them to the /usr/local/plexdata-plexpass directory which contains a Plex Media Server files also.
Once I did that Plexpass will not start.
It shows it is running in the jail but not in the shell.
Any ideas would be great full.
