Hello,

I have a new TrueNAS Scale system I just set up.

It has the following hardware:

Motherboard: MSI X79-GD49 PLUS
CPU: I7-4930K
RAM: 24GB
SSD: 256GB
HDD's: 3 x HGST Ultrastar HUH728080ALE601 8TB (Bought refurbished)

I started putting my data on the server and it was going fine. The only concern I had was the drives were making noise similar to noises old computers would make when you booted them up. It was that HDD struggling noise, that sounded almost like an animal scratching on something.

Well, today I got an error saying that the pool is unhealthy and all 3 drives have errors.

Not sure how to proceed and was hoping someone could help. I read some of the threads thru the forum but got too confused and dont even know where to begin.

You should return the drives immediately, IMHO.

If there is "normal" data on there, I would boot Linux from a USB stick and format them (no quick-format !!!). If the data are sensitive, there are tools to overwrite HDDs multiple times and by that erase them securely.
