Hi. I noticed that this message appears (always in pairs) at system startup:

I found it in /var/log/messages:

Nov 23 20:44:10 sataNAS notifier: Setting hostid: ...............

The system is running FreeNAS-9.10.1-U4 (ec9a7d3).

Nope. Did you figure it out?

Unfortunately I was not able to find out what script is the origin of those messages. I had to resort to taking snapshots of the startup screen:



I hope they provide some clue about the script originating those messages...

No idea... Did this error start with U4 or has it been around for awhile?

I'm also seeing these messages on fresh installed FreeNAS-9.10.1-U4 (ec9a7d3) with no active services and volumes.

I noticed this error after installing and running Bidule0hm's SMART report email script. Do you have that installed too jmas?

I have just find out that a bug report about this problem was created, fixed and closed just 7 days ago:

https://bugs.freenas.org/issues/19605

The fix has been included in 9.10.2.
