Hello,
While I have my FreeNAS up and running and it's been very rock solid....it's only configured at an elementary level - 1 user, 1 dataset.
Coming from various Synology equipment it was easy to add a user and then assign that user to a particular share. In addition, you could modify that share and add other users to it to either: read, read/write, or deny.
Is there a filesharing/permissions guide that helps compare the differences? I did a search on the forums and it appears:
Create a dataset and share - assign it to a user for both the user field and group field. Login as that user on a windows OS and modify the permissions on that share or add a user to that share using windows security/filesharing.
Is that correct and best practice?
Thanks
