To start with, I'm new to all of this, so I've bee using a guide to help me, most notably this one (https://www.familybrown.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=fester:shares_basic), and as far as I can tell all the permissions are set up properly, SMB is running, everything. However, I cannot see any folders in windows from FreeNAS, or connect to it through file explorer using the IP address.

Can anyone walk me through anything that I may have missed, any windows settings that I could have overlooked, anything to try and get this working please?

Edit: been able to map the network drive now by manually typing in the ip address with the dataset name at the end

If you are using Windows 10 and installed the problematic October 2018 update, it broke some things with network drives. There was a fix released recently. Here is the KB.

thanks for the reply, managed to sort it out now, however, had the issue before that update was installed. funnily enough I updated windows to the october update to see if that would fix it.

Now I just need to figure out how to set up plex, sonarr, deluge, and radarr. This will be fun.

FYI: You may also need to add a plex user to FreeNAS for the jail to be able to read/write media properly. I matched the same name/uid as the jail user and added 'plex' user with uid '972'.

I managed to get it all working, just need to install Jackett now, and the way in the thread you linked me doesn't want to work

Great, you might consider posting what you did to get it working so it helps others and/or let the author of that post know that the instructions dont work so they can update them.

I had missed one permission, also the jackett issue seems to be know, as others have mentioned about it
