Unable to login to WEB GUI

Hi,
I am running an old version of Freenas as a VM on ESX5.1. It has run well for years until recently when it seemed to loose it network configuration. I was unable to configure the network interface or IP address, then after yet another reboot I can now set the network details.
I can now ping the NAS and connect to the Web GUI however I can't login to it nor connect to any of my shares.
I have reset the WebGUI password from the console but when I try to login using admin and freenas the fields just go blank again, see image.

I have restored the VM from backups but all copies do the same thing.
This has me stumped, any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you can access the machine physically, there is an option to reset password at the console.

BTW, what version are you running?

That screenshot looks nothing like FreeNAS' WebGUI login. So either you are using the project formerly called "FreeNAS' or you aren't using FreeNAS at all.

Like cyberjock, my guess is that you're running FreeNAS 0.7.

An image search on Google (https://www.google.com/search?q=fre...v&sa=X&ei=UZHqVJHDMpCTyASNooKwBg&ved=0CB0QsAQ) yields some results that show a server image, similar to what you see in the background.
