Oooooh, boy.

I seem to have goofed up. I just got a used 320 GB HDD from on of my old Notebook PCs. Said Notebook is kaput. Hard drive works great.

History: In my FreeNAS setup, I was running 80, 100, 120, and 160 GB Drives. (My FreeNAS rig has 8x 2.5" Hard Drive Bays). I also wanted to move some stuff around - this is where the trouble started.

First thing, I stopped all Plug-ins and then all Jails.

I had my TV shows on the 120, and successfully moved them to the 320. I then removed all datasets from the 120, and began moving the data from the 100 to the 120 drive. (I'm leaving the 160 alone - for now). After this, I plan to move the data from the 80 -> the 100.

Since I had all of my plugins/jails on the 100 GB. I created a dataset for my jails on the 120 GB to match the one I had been using on the 100 GB. I then went to a command prompt, and did an 'rsync -Pav /mnt/[100 GB drive]/Jails/* /mnt/[120 GB drive]/Jails/' (without the quotes).

After that completed, I went into the WebUI, and told it the new location for my Jails. I then restarted my Server machine. Upon reboot, I went to try to restart my Jails, but there are none listed. If I go to the top toolbar, and clink Plugins and then on Installed, all of my plugins are there, but show-up in red. I am unable to configure them, however, as they don't show up on the left-hand side.

What did I forget??

Help!!

I don't think it's supported to migrate jails from one zpool to another. Are they all plugins or are some of them standard jails?

If they're plugins just..
  • backup the data-directories
  • reinstall all the plugins you want
  • setup any mountpoints
  • copy over the datadairectories (making sure to keep the same ownership)
  • start the plugins.

All were plugins. I ended up copying off everything important, and doing a factory restore. I am finally back in business. Thanks for your help.
