Ubuntu 19.04 Bhyve VM - network card not working?

Hi,

I am currently running FreeNAS 11.2-U4.1.

This is on a SuperMicro A2SDi-TP8F machine. For network connectivity, I have a 10GBase-LR optic connected to one of the SFP+ ports, which is ix3 under FreeNAS. This is the only network cable plugged in so far. This is plugged into a Ruckus 7150-C12P network switch:

I have created a new Bhyve VM, and have installed Ubuntu 19.04 inside it.

For the network card, I have chosen to attach to ix3. I initially set it to use the VirtIO drivers - however, it didn't seem to get an IP address, or work:

I then also tried Intel e85245 but same issue. This is what I see when I run ip addr from within the Ubuntu VM:

Does anybody have any ideas what's going on here?

Also - does this have anything to do with the fact it's a fiber-optic connection, and 10Gbase-LR?

Or should it all "just work" assuming the host machine works, since it's all virtual?

(Is the default in FreeNAS to simply do a bridge over an existing interface?)

Check your Ubuntu VM's internal network is configured to use device "enp0s4". You should find the associated netplan YMAL file under /etc/netplan. After making any changes use the netplan apply command to restart your network and check to see if device enp0s4 has got an ip address. Then you can revert to using the virtio driver.
