Currently building out a FreeNAS that will be doing Veeam Cloud Connect backups. 16 Drives @ 4TB each. I've read that in no way should I go with RAIDZ1, so it leaves me between 3, 2, and mirrors. I do need good performance here, and obviously data loss is a big no, but also need to make sure I keep 17+ TB of data. So from this I believe I should go with RaidZ2 no? Just wanna make sure Im not making any mistakes here.

16 drives is pretty big for RAIDZ2. If it were me, I would do two 8-drive RAIDZ2 vdevs, and put them in the same pool. That gives you something similar to RAID60, which should be plenty of performance for you, and sufficient redundancy to prevent data loss.

You'll also want to make sure you keep at least one spare drive. Make sure you do burn in the spare with the rest of your drives.
