Truenas core upgrade to truenas scale

Hello,
Right now I have truenas core with 1 4tb hard drive. I just got a 2nd 4tb hard drive and I want to move to truenas scale.
Does anyone know If I need to add the 2nd hard drive before upgrading to scale?
When I the 2nd hard drive what is the best way to make sure its set to zfs?
Any other suggestions would be great!

Nope. Whatever you're planning on doing with it (adding it as a mirror to the first, striping it with the first, or creating a new pool on it), you can do with SCALE just as well as with CORE.

If you use it with TrueNAS, it will be ZFS.
