I would like to know if installing Truenas core 12 is supported as running as a Vmware 6.7 guest on hardware that has has its own RAID controller and the storage is all confined to a DAS?
There is not much information on the Truenas website stating if that type of configuration is supported or not.

Thank you

I don't think there's officially any support statement, but there are some community materials that might give you some confidence on how to do it.

You specifically mentioned a RAID card... read this please:

Actually I think he might be looking for this:

https://www.truenas.com/community/t...ative-for-those-seeking-virtualization.26095/

Basically, as long as the storage is already protected (by RAID1, RAID5, RAID6, etc), it will be fine, just like any other virtualized FreeBSD install.

If you are hoping to get away with using RAID0 or SATA/NVMe unprotected datastores, then this becomes a really bad idea, because FreeNAS won't have a good way to identify when things are about to go wrong. You probably want to disable I/O-subsystem-crushing things like scrubs as well.
